Lecture Recital: The Leonhardt Legacy with Douglas Amrine
A founder of the Gustav Leonhardt Pedagogy Archive, Douglas Amrine’s program for MusicSources will include works by Byrd, Tomkins, Louis Couperin, and Purcell. He has chosen meantune tuning which best conveys the beauty of these 17th-century masterpieces. After the recital, Amrine will discuss why Leonhardt was such an important teacher, the key ideas he conveyed in his lessons, and the impact of his teaching on the resurgence of interest in early music.
